About Us

Who Are we?

Pace Community Action is a private not-for-profit corporation committed to community development and providing services to low-income residents in Southwestern Indiana.

Our movement began in May of 1965 when the Community Action Agency network was established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, which was signed by President Lyndon Johnson and declared an "unconditional War on Poverty."

To improve our communities we:

  • Develop and implement programs that assist individuals in personal development toward independence.

  • Coordinate public, private and corporate resources focusing on the alleviation of poverty.

  • Invest over $7.2 million back into our local economy through employment and purchasing local goods and services.

  • Encourage self-reliance through a variety of programs offered to eliminate barriers that low-income households face daily.

The Promise Of Community Action

Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community, and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
