STEM Camp Scholarships
Pace Community Action Agency, Inc. promotes individual empowerment and community improvement. To continue as mission-driven, we are providing a limited number of scholarships for girls to attend STEM (Science Technology Engineering, Math) Camps.
According to the NGC Project, only 29% of the science and engineering workforce are female. Careers in STEM are one of the fast-growing fields with above average pay. “The national average wage for all STEM occupations was $87,570, nearly double the national average wage for non-STEM occupations ($45,700).” according to STEM Occupations: Past, Present, and Future by the US Bureaus of Labor Statistics. There are a variety of camps in our area that provide hands-on technology activities for youth. Scholarships are Pace’s way of making sure that financial issues do not stop low-income females from attending STEM camp.
Interested individuals should identify a camp of interest and complete the application on Pace’s website- www.pacecaa.org. Financial reimbursement may include the cost of the camp and mileage to and from the camp. A limited number of scholarships exist. After receipt of applications, individuals will be notified if they will receive the scholarship. Dr. Bertha Proctor, Pace CEO, said, “Pace is committed to addressing causes and conditions of poverty. These scholarships will introduce girls to the various high paying jobs available in the STEM sector.”
