Breastfeeding Awareness Day at Vincennes WIC
Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) of Pace Community Action Agency joins observances throughout the Nation this month to raise awareness about breastfeeding. This year we will celebrate Breastfeeding Awareness Month on August 6th at your local Vincennes WIC office, located at 715 Wabash Avenue. An hour long breastfeeding class will commence at 2:00 p.m.
Are you currently breastfeeding or thinking about breastfeeding? Rachel Lowery, Knox County Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, stated, “Individuals are invited to come to the WIC office for a one-on-one consultation. In addition, we can fit a breastfeeding mom for one of our nursing bras and/or flanges for breast pumps; provide nursing pads and nipples shields; and demonstrate a hands-free pumping kit. There will be incentives, giveaways, and refreshments to help us celebrate.”
WIC encourages Indiana Hoosiers to work together to emphasize the importance of a strong partnership between the community and the family in helping develop responsible and healthy attitudes about breastfeeding. Visit the local WIC office and meet Rachel Lowery on August 6th or call (812) 886-0107 for more information.
