Pace Community Action Agency, Inc. Announces Needs Assessment Results
Pace Community Action Agency, Inc. announces the release of their recently completed Community Needs Assessment. The Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority procured the services of the Sagamore Institute, a public policy research organization, to conduct the Indiana Needs Assessment which used a mixed method approach in data collection and analysis. Data collection consisted of three parts— a demographic and community asset inventory, an online and mail impact survey questionnaire, and interviews. Community Action Agencies are required to conduct a community needs assessment every three years.
Data from the surveys indicated top five needs for Pace’s primary service area, which includes Daviess, Greene, Knox and Sullivan Counties:
· Substance Abuse Assistance – 78.6%
· Child/Adolescent Mental Health Support – 73.8%
· Adult Mental Health Support; Permanent Affordable Housing; & Domestic Violence Shelters – 71.4%
· Childcare – 69%
· Help with Affordable Housing – 66.7%
Dr. Bertha Proctor, CEO states, “the Community Needs Assessment is an integral part of our agency’s planning process. It identifies needs within the communities we serve, and we utilize this information in our 5-year strategic planning. In addition, the information is available for use with our community partners in addressing needs through collaborative efforts.”
Information obtained through the sharing of needs assessments allows for building and strengthening partnerships, Proctor states. For example, partnerships can be established to address regional needs or those in specific communities.
The Sagamore Institute also provided a statewide comprehensive report, from community partners throughout the state (trustees, churches, social service agencies, etc.) and a Client Need Outcomes report. These, along with the Pace Needs Assessment can be found on our website, www.pacecaa.org.
