Judith K Bobe Scholarship Winners
Pace Community Action Agency announces the 2017 Judith K. Bobe Scholarship recipients; Abbie Lunsford from Vincennes and Ariel DeMotte from Washington. Every year since 2010 Pace has set aside funds to provide up to two scholarships for graduating high school seniors that were previous Head Start students. This scholarship is named in honor of Pace’s former Head Start Director who worked within the program over 40 years.
· Abbie Lunsford from Lincoln High School plans to attend The University of West Florida, with interest in Biology Pre-Medicine.
· Ariel DeMotte from Washington High School plans to attend Ball State University, with interest in Nursing.
Applicants were required to submit a typed essay about the impact of Head Start in school readiness and in the student’s academic performance. Recipients each received a $500 scholarship to help pursue their educational goals. Pace’s CEO, Dr. Proctor states, “Our Head Start Program not only prepares students for kindergarten, but prepares families for college. We hope to continue providing scholarships and possibly increasing the amount through our continued fundraising efforts.” Pace’s 5th Annual Golf Scramble will take place on June 15th and proceeds support internships and youth programming such as our scholarships.
Former Head Start students from Daviess, Greene, Knox and Sullivan Counties are encouraged to apply for scholarships next year. For more information about Pace Community Action Agency programs and services, call (812) 882-7927 or visit us at www.pacecaa.org.
