Family Planning Resources Continue to be Available in Terre Haute
The recent announcement by Planned Parenthood to close its Terre Haute clinic has many women and men questioning what they are supposed to do and where they are supposed to go to get their healthcare needs met. Rebecca Skiver, Health Connection Supervisor, said, “There are options for affordable reproductive healthcare and Pace Health Connection is one of them. Our clinic is right here in Terre Haute. Confidential reproductive healthcare services are provided to individuals at our clinic; call to schedule an appointment.”
Health Connectionof Pace Community Action Agency, Inc. provides affordable family planning services including physical assessment, male and female examinations, pap smears, breast exams, contraceptive methods, sexually transmitted infection screening and treatment, HIV testing and counseling, and pregnancy testing and counseling. We also provide group and individual educational programs tailored for specific needs. Services are provided on a sliding-fee scale with charges based on household income and family size. Insurances including Medicaid are accepted as well as donations. Patients are not refused services due to their inability to pay.
Health Connection is partially funded by Title X through Indiana Family Health Council (IFHC). One difference between Planned Parenthood and Health Connection is that Health Connection does not perform or refer individuals for abortions. Title X provides access to contraceptive services, supplies, outreach, education and counseling to ensure that people have all the information they need to make smart, informed decisions about their reproductive health care.
