Head Start Works!
Pace Community Action Agency’s Head Start program celebrated its 50th birthday last year. In that 50 year period the Head Start program has provided quality and comprehensive services to thousands of children and families. Early Head Start and Head Start are reviewed by multiple federal and state offices throughout the year. In the past year, the program has undergone multiple reviews: Teacher-Child Interactions, Comprehensive Services and School Readiness, Child and Adult Food Care (CACFP), and a financial audit.
The Teacher-Child Interactions are scored for programs throughout the US using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) tool. Positive and quality teacher-child interactions drives learning. Pace Head Start demonstrated stellar scores, scoring above the national average in all three learning domains.
|Learning Domains||Emotional Support||Classroom Organization||Instructional Support|
The Comprehensive Services and School Readiness review was conducted for our Early Head Start program. Reviewers conducted an evaluation of our school readiness data and also interviewed staff and parents. We passed the review with no area of noncompliance.
The Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP) provides aid to child and adult care institutions for the provision of nutritious foods that contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children and adults. After a three day review, we came out with only one minor corrective action regarding documentation.
Every year, our agency is required to be audited by an independent audit firm. The financial audit was conducted for 2015 resulting in no financial statement findings, no federal award findings or questioned costs.
Reviews ensure compliance as well as identification of strenghts and improvements. “The results of these reviews demonstrate the commitment to quality that Pace has for all of their programs and services,” states Tanya Bezy, Head Start Program Coordinator.
