PACE Holds First Socialization Event for Daviess County Early Head Start

Pace Community Action Agency welcomes 20 children and their families to our new Daviess County Early Head Start (EHS) Program. On February 18th, families came to the Washington Head Start center to their first socialization. “The socialization experience is part of our curriculum that encourages growth and social interaction. The experience gives the parents a chance to network with other parents and also provides the children a chance to interact with their peers,” explains Tanya Bezy, Early Head Start Site Manager.

This program was made possible through the Early Head Start Expansion Grant received by PACE Community Action Agency. Jessica Walls, an Early Head Start parent, said “I really enjoyed getting the opportunity to socialize with other moms, and I really enjoy and look forward to socializations.”

Early Head Start serves children from birth to three years of age. The families receive weekly home visits provided by our quality trained home visitors whom work with the parent and the child to facilitate positive parent-child interactions assisting in ensuring that children reach developmental milestones. Children enrolled in this program will also have the opportunity to transition into Head Start upon turning three.

Early Head Start is a comprehensive, flexible child development program that is designed to reinforce and respond to the unique strengths and needs of each individual child and family. Eligibility is based on income and need. For more information or to apply for services, contact Lisa Vargas or Dee Shrieves at (812) 254-6098 or visit our website at www.pacecaa.org.
