Pace WIC Program Announces New 2011 Income Eligibility Guidelines

Pace WIC Program Announces New 2011 Income Eligibility Guidelines

Kathy Nippert, Pace WIC Manager, announces that the state of Indiana has established new income eligibility guidelines for the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, beginning April 11, 2011. Income Guidelines did not change during 2010.

The WIC Program provides nutritious foods, nutrition counseling, and health referrals to pregnant, nursing or postpartum women, infants and children to age five. Eligibility is based on income, residence within Indiana, and health and/or nutrition risk factors.  Income, meaning total income before deductions, for a household (a group of related or non-related individuals who are living as one economic unit), is based on Department of Health and Human Services Poverty Income Guidelines, and are as follows:

Household Size

Annual Income

1

$20,147

2

$27,214

3

$34,281

4

$41,348

5

$48,415

6

$55,482

Each additional member add

$7,067

Income is calculated from the paystubs for the past 30 days, child support and/or unemployment statements.  For a self-employed person, such as a farmer or small business owner, the income is determined to be gross income minus business expenses. This figure, as stated in the most recent tax forms, may be used.  Enrollment in Medicaid, SNAP (Food Stamps), and/or TANF may also be used to establish income eligibility.

The WIC Program is currently taking appointments for new clients. For more information contact the Pace WIC Clinics:
