PACE Participates in the Greater Vincennes AIDS Walk and Health Fair

Health Connection of Pace Community Action Agency, Inc. participated in the Greater Vincennes AIDS Walk and Health Fair at Vincennes University (VU) on March 26th at the VU Student Recreation Center. On-site human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing was available. Various booths were available with information about community resources. The purpose of this event was to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS in our region.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that about one-fourth of the more than one million people living with HIV in the US do not know they are infected. HIV testing is a critical step in reducing HIV infections. Knowing your HIV status empowers you to help prevent the spread of the disease. If you are infected, you can take steps to protect your health and that of your partner, as well as seek life-extending medical treatment. People who learn they are not infected can take steps to help ensure they remain uninfected.

Health Connection is committed to preventing HIV infection; however, we cannot do it alone. We need your commitment as well. We encourage you to take the test, and take control.
