Pace Announces Availability of Senior-focused Community Grant
Pace Community Action Agency, Inc. announced that applications for the 2011 Community Grant are now available and will be accepted through December 17, 2010. The grant was established as a collaborative effort with community partners in furthering the mission of Pace by assisting low-income individuals in Daviess, Greene, Knox, and Sullivan Counties.
Up to $5,000 will be awarded to a community partner for a senior focused project. Bertha Proctor, CEO stated that, “the creation of the Community Grant is another way that Pace helps in our local community. We are excited about the opportunity for collaboration with other entities that provide services to improve the community.” Last year's grant was awarded to Generations to supplement their Meals on Wheels program by providing weekend frozen dinners to eligible households.
The purpose of the grant is to provide direct services to low-income elderly individuals residing in Daviess, Greene, Knox or Sullivan Counties. Funds must be expended within the fore mentioned service area and must be used for direct services and not administrative costs. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the impact of their project on low-income seniors as well as their community. The granting period will run from January 1, 2011 through December 31, 2011 with quarterly reporting required.
Applications are available on Pace's website at www.pacecaa.org or by contacting Susan Laughlin, Client Services Manager at (812) 882-7927, extension 1217. To apply, interested organizations will need to return a completed Cover Sheet, Application, and Budget Sheet to Pace Community Action Agency on or before December 17th, 2010. Applications can be mailed to P.O. Box 687, Vincennes, Indiana 47591 or dropped off in Room 106 of the Administrative Offices located at 525 North 4th Street in Vincennes.
Grant applications will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the CEO, and those awarded will be notified by December 30th. Proctor stated, “The Community Grant was created in 2010 and we are pleased to have funding available for 2011.”
