WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Earns IBCLC Credential

Pace Community Action Agency’s WIC ProgramcongratulatesMegan Kutter, WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor, for successfully passing the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) exam.  The exam is conducted world-wide and during its 25 year history has been administered to over 33,000 individuals in 19 languages.  Megan is the third WIC staff member to earn this international credential. 

Kathy Nippert, WIC Manager, states;“Achieving the goal of having IBCLC’s available in each county in Indianahelpsmothers initiate and continue breastfeeding for as long as possible.”  Indiana WIC is encouraging and supporting WIC Staff and Breastfeeding Peer Counselors to become IBCLC’s, by providing frequent updates and scientifically based breastfeeding education opportunities.

Over 22,000 IBCLC’s, doctors, nurses, dietitians, doulas, midwifes, peer counselors, etc., worldwide, improve the health and well-being of mothers and children, using the most current and scientifically based breastfeeding information.  This credential’s competence is maintained by completing 75 hours of continuing breastfeeding education every five years and re-sitting for the exam every ten years. IBLCE is the global authority regarding breastfeeding.
