Seal Indiana Coming to Vincennes and Washington Head Start Centers

Indiana University School of Dentistry's mobile dental sealant program, Seal Indiana, will be providing preventative dental care for children enrolled at Pace's Head Start Centers. Preventive dental services will include comprehensive examinations and fluoride varnish treatments. Children will also receive a toothbrush and brushing instructions, and parents will receive a report of their child's oral health following treatment.
According to Bertha Proctor, Pace CEO, “Health Screenings are just one of the many benefits available for our Head Start children. We are honored to have the opportunity to host individuals from the Indiana University School of Dentistry.” Students and staff from IU will be in Daviess County on Tuesday, October 25thand Knox County on Wednesday and Thursday, October 26thand 27th.
The Seal Indiana program is operated by faculty from Indiana University School of Dentistry, assisted by senior dental students who serve as clinicians. Since its inception in March 2003, Seal Indiana has examined over 22,000 Indiana children, placed over 32,000 dental sealants, and provided over 17,000 fluoride varnish treatments at more than 1,100 Indiana Head Start programs, Title I schools, community health centers, and shelters.
